This year’s event, “Celebrating the Vision, Continuing the Journey, Advancing the Mission,” is a  monumental theme that falls in line with the organisation’s focus on leadership, education and public policy information.

There will be high-level panel discussions, and one of the three CBCF Alumni Series will focus on “The ABCs of Healthy Student Learning: Addressing Disparities in Academic Achievement and Health.”

First Lady Michelle Obama is scheduled to give remarks during that session.

The ABCs discussion will examine how school-based health clinics, mental and behavioral health, and nutrition in schools play a significant role in addressing racial disparities in education.

There will also be a Roundtable with Young Elected Officials, Policy Professionals and the Obama Administration.

“I hope they (Annual Legislative Conference attendees) will come away with solutions to some of the problems they are facing.

“I hope they will meet people who they will keep in touch with throughout the year. I hope they will learn about the work of the CBCF,” Elsie L. Scott, Ph.D., president and chief executive officer of CBCF told Ib’s Blog.
