New York City, New York—Former NBA Player Cliff Robinson, who between 2005 and 2007 played for the New Jersey Nets, spoke to Ib’s Blog in an exclusive interview about the importance of professional athletes getting involved with human causes.
“I think it’s huge because a lot of times people see us on TV and that’s all they get the opportunity to see,” Robinson told Ib’s Blog.
“They don’t know about the stuff we do behind the scenes. But I think that when you have the opportunity to get involved and give back, it is always a good thing to do.
“Over the years, guys have had the opportunity to make money and be on TV or whatever, so when you have an opportunity to put yourself in a position to be able to help, you should definitely do that.”
Robinson attended the Children’s Cancer & Blood Foundation (CCBF) annual Breakthrough Ball on October 27 to support his friend Trent Tucker, NBA Champion and founder of The Trent Tucker Non Profit Foundation, who was honored with the “Breakthrough Spirit” award for his humanitarian work.
“Trent has always been instrumental with his charity foundation and giving back to children who are in need so when I had the opportunity to come here and show some support, I jumped on,” Robinson said.
Robinson did not rule out the idea of taking on coaching opportunities in the National Basketball Association (NBA) or within the college ranks.
