Interview by Ibrahim Dabo
Award-winning and multi-platinum recording artist, Deborah Cox, shared exclusively with Ib’s Blog some of her activities.
“I’m getting ready to go on Broadway,” Cox told Ib’s Blog in an interview. “I will be playing the role of Josephine Baker.”
The Canadian R&B singer-songwriter and actress said she is excited ahead of her performance, while she has also been keeping busy in the studio.
“I get ready to go for rehearsals at the top of the year so I have been in preparation for that and working on my new album as well.”
Cox said her new album will be released in the spring of next year.
“I am in the studio working, actually writing a lot of the material right now,” Cox said.
“I’m really, really excited about getting some new stuff out and it’s a lot of things going on.”
Cox’s 1998 song “Nobody’s Supposed to Be Here” held the record for longest-running number one single on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart for 14 weeks.
It was a record held for nearly eight years.
