The last 1+ years have impacted many lives in unimaginable ways.
For example, Covid-19 has left many people devastated and disrupted businesses. More than 5 million people have died globally, according to stats from the WHO.
Those of us who tested positive for Covid-19 and survived it will never forget our first reaction to the test results.
In my case, I first thought about my 2- and 3-year-olds and how much they need their daddy. I prayed for healing and was hopeful. Thankfully I survived.
In my native country, Sierra Leone, I remember and pray for the victims of a fuel tanker explosion last night (11/5/21) that killed at least 98 people and wounded dozens of others.
You might have experienced other challenges in your life. Or maybe you are experiencing them right now.
While we can’t change the events that have happened, we can change how we think, hope, and pray for a brighter future.
And, hopefully, we can emerge stronger than before.
As the Reverend Jesse Jackson Sr. said of hope in an interview with ebony.com:
“Hope is at its best when despair is at its height.
“Hope is not a luxury. Hope is a need.
“Hope is a weapon. You fight darkness with light.
“You fight despair with hope. You fight sadness with joy.
“You keep hoping, you keep hopping.
“This atmosphere wants to break your spirit.
“As long as your spirit is alive, so are you.”
